66 Senior Police Officers Promoted Nationwide

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 66 senior police officers across various ranks, enhancing the leadership structure of the force.

Among those promoted, 20 commissioners of police (CPs) have been elevated to the rank of assistant inspectors general of police (AIGs). This strategic move aims to strengthen security management and coordination nationwide.

Additionally, 19 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) have been promoted to the substantive rank of commissioners of police (CPs). These new CPs will take on expanded responsibilities in various state commands and specialized units.

The PSC also promoted 13 superintendents of police (SPs) and 14 deputy superintendents (DSPs) to their next respective ranks. This effort is part of a broader initiative to reward dedication and improve morale within the force.

Notable new AIGs include Fasuba Akinyele Olabode of the Special Fraud Unit, Aliyu Abubakar Musa of Katsina State Command, and Gyogon Augustine Grimah of Cross River State Command. Their leadership experience is expected to impact critical areas like fraud detection, state command operations, and national security.

The Police Service Commission emphasized its commitment to a merit-based promotion system, ensuring that officers’ performance and integrity remain central to advancement within the force.
