Malete, Nigeria – The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete has announced a partnership with the United Kingdom’s Bournemouth University to collaborate on research, joint funding, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The agreement was discussed during a meeting between KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman-Jimoh, and Dr. Festus Adedoyin, a senior lecturer in the Department of Computing and Informatics at Bournemouth University, UK.
Professor Luqman-Jimoh expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting KWASU’s growing focus on Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy. He cited the university’s establishment of the Centre for International Education, Centre for Digital Economy, and Centre for AI as key steps in adapting to global technology trends.
“These initiatives demonstrate the University’s commitment to staying current with global trends in technology and education,” he stated.
Dr. Adedoyin, an expert in data analytics, also welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing the potential for joint research, funding opportunities, and knowledge exchange between the two institutions.
He arrived in Nigeria on Monday, April 7, 2025, to deliver a lecture at the maiden Postgraduate Colloquium on Artificial Intelligence, organized by KWASU’s Department of Economics and Development Studies.
