Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang joined Nigerians in celebrating former Senate President David Mark, praising his visionary leadership and patriotism as he turned 77.
In a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang described Mark as an exceptional statesman whose reforms strengthened Nigeria’s democracy and economy.
The governor highlighted Mark’s historic role in invoking the ‘Doctrine of Necessity’, a move that stabilized Nigeria’s leadership during a political crisis and ensured a peaceful transition of power.
Mutfwang recalled Mark’s distinguished military career, where he rose to Brigadier-General before transitioning into politics, eventually serving as Senate President and becoming the third highest-ranking public officer in the country.
He lauded Mark’s integrity, wisdom, and commitment to fostering peace and national unity, calling him a mentor, bridge-builder, and icon of leadership.
On behalf of Plateau State, Mutfwang wished Mark good health and strength, praying for continued divine guidance as he remains an inspiration for future generations.
