Ekiti Woman Demands Justice for Stabbed Father

A woman in Ekiti State has taken to social media with an impassioned plea for justice, alleging that a police officer violently stabbed her father at their family residence in the Ise-Ekiti area. Her emotional account, shared through a series of viral video recordings, details a disturbing incident that reportedly stemmed from a minor disagreement involving her younger brother.

According to the woman’s narration, the altercation began between her younger brother and a female classmate. The classmate allegedly contacted her boyfriend, who subsequently arrived at their family home accompanied by two police officers, claiming they were there to make an arrest. “My kid brother had an argument with a classmate. She angrily went on to call her boyfriend so that he would come and fight my kid brother at home,” the distraught woman explained in her video.

She further stated that upon their arrival, the group did not find her younger brother but encountered his elder sibling. The situation reportedly escalated rapidly when the officers attempted to apprehend the elder brother. As the young man questioned their reasons for the arrest, one of the officers allegedly responded with physical violence. “They started questioning the elder brother. He started calling on my dad to come out. Then the next person came from nowhere, removed a knife, and stabbed my dad in his belly,” she tearfully recounted. “Fortunately, my dad was able to use his hand to guide the knife, but the knife tore through his hand,” she claimed, highlighting the severity of the assault.

In one of the distressing videos filmed from the hospital, the woman showed her injured father lying on a hospital bed, visibly in pain. She alleged that the police officer responsible for the stabbing was not only known within the community but also had a known history of violent behavior. “Everybody is complaining about this guy and he’s still working. He’s still in service. What is going on? Because he’s a chairman’s orderly, they left him there and said there is a procedure,” she expressed with palpable frustration.

The woman voiced her outrage that the accused officer had not been taken into custody despite the gravity of the attack, stating that police protocol was cited as the reason for his continued freedom. “They are doing absolutely nothing because they said he is a police officer. They don’t just arrest a police officer like that. But if it’s a normal person like me that did that, by now I’ll be in jail,” she lamented, highlighting the perceived disparity in the application of justice.

In another video recorded outside a police station, the visibly angry woman directly confronted one of the officers she believed to be involved in the incident. “Go back to the street that you are, and join that cultist. You are not meant to be a police (officer) and I’ll make sure they dismiss you. If nothing happens, your face will be posted everywhere on the internet. Murderer!” she exclaimed, conveying the depth of her anger and determination to seek accountability.

Returning to the apartment where the alleged stabbing occurred, the woman filmed the scene, showing bloodstains and disarray. She asserted that the officers had intended to inflict fatal harm on her father. “They came here to actually kill him, but fortunately they did not succeed. Look at what they did to my dad without him committing any crime. He did absolutely nothing, but they did this to him — all because two people had an argument,” she stated, emphasizing the seemingly unwarranted violence.

The woman did not hold back in her criticism of the Nigerian Police Force, questioning their fundamental commitment to protecting the very civilians they are sworn to serve. “It’s a very shameful thing for the department of police to do this. This is a terrible injustice. We can’t even trust the police anymore. They say police is our friend, but at this point, we don’t even know what is going on again,” she expressed with deep disappointment and a sense of betrayal.

She made a direct appeal to relevant authorities, including President Bola Tinubu and the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, urging their immediate intervention to ensure that justice is served in her father’s case. “Please, Mr. President. Please, Commissioner of Police. Every effort, at this point, we need your help. They should do something about this because this cannot keep happening. Nigeria is failing us for real,” she lamented, conveying her desperation for accountability and systemic change.

At the time of this report, the Ekiti State Police Command had not yet issued an official statement regarding the serious allegations, and attempts to reach local authorities for their comments on the matter were unsuccessful. The viral videos and the woman’s emotional plea have, however, drawn significant attention to the incident, raising concerns about police conduct and the pursuit of justice in Ekiti State.
