By A powerful explosion shook Kodesoh Street, Ikeja, Lagos on Friday night, leaving many injured. The blast reportedly occurred when a shop attendant tried to open a suspicious parcel delivered to a camera store.
Emergency responders, including police bomb experts (EOD-CBRN Base 23), LASTMA, and Area G officers, quickly arrived to secure the scene and manage the aftermath.
Eyewitness Lucky Okoro described the terrifying moment: “I was just stepping into the shop when the explosion pushed me away. Fire engulfed a man and a lady inside.”
Another witness, Olumide Gbeleyi, recounted from a nearby hotel: “Smoke covered everywhere. A snack vendor outside was badly affected, and another lady’s clothes caught fire.”
Sule Aminu, familiar with the store, suggested the parcel may have been a targeted attack: “The owner has three shops connected by CCTV. The footage is being reviewed to confirm what happened.”
Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, with concerns over potential foul play.
