FRSC Pleads: Drive Safely This Easter

The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is making a heartfelt appeal to all motorists: prioritize safety by strictly adhering to traffic rules and regulations. The goal, according to the FRSC, is to ensure everyone arrives at their destinations safely and enjoys a peaceful celebration.

Memee Timothy, the Ifo Unit Commander of the FRSC, speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun State, passionately urged drivers to avoid dangerous behaviors that tragically lead to loss of life during the Easter period. He specifically cautioned against excessive speeding, the perilous act of wrongful overtaking, and the blatant disregard for traffic flow by driving against it.

Timothy also highlighted the serious risks associated with overloading vehicles and driving under the influence of alcohol. He emphasized that these actions significantly increase the likelihood of road crashes, which can have devastating consequences for individuals and families. The FRSC is resolute in its commitment to minimizing these preventable tragedies.

To ensure a safer Easter for all road users, Timothy announced that FRSC personnel will be strategically deployed across Ogun State. Their responsibilities will include diligently monitoring and controlling traffic flow, as well as being readily available to respond swiftly to any emergencies involving accidents or vehicle breakdowns that may occur during the festive season.

Timothy further stated that FRSC officers will be positioned at key locations and road construction zones to actively identify and apprehend those who are overloading their vehicles and those who are driving without a valid driver’s license. He stressed the FRSC’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety of all individuals traveling on Ogun State roads.

In closing, Timothy made a direct appeal to all motorists to cooperate fully with FRSC personnel and other law enforcement agencies working to ensure a smooth and safe Easter celebration. He expressed hope that through collective responsibility and adherence to traffic laws, this Easter will be a hitch-free and joyous occasion for everyone.
