Prince Jide Kosoko, has called on Nigerian actors, especially female Yoruba stars, to stop the growing trend of online quarrels and embrace peace, professionalism, and mutual respect in the film industry.
Speaking out amid rising social media disputes, Kosoko—fondly known as Jide Babs—urged his younger colleagues to reflect on their legacy. “As mothers and future grandmothers, be mindful of the legacy you are building. The internet never forgets,” he said.
Kosoko lamented that many of the younger actors continuing these feuds were once mentored by the same veterans they now disrespect. “We trained many of you. It pains us to see the house we built being torn apart by ego-driven conflicts,” he stated.
The actor reminded his peers that as custodians of culture and public figures, they have a responsibility to set good examples. He noted that past conflicts were handled with maturity, unlike the current trend that brings “shame and discomfort to all of us.”
He encouraged female actors to follow the example of their male counterparts, who often settle disputes privately. “Public confrontations achieve nothing but harm everyone involved,” he added, calling for unity and self-development instead.
Kosoko revealed that a roundtable meeting of senior industry figures is being planned to peacefully resolve ongoing disputes. “We remain dedicated to restoring stability, honour, and mutual respect within the industry,” he concluded, urging everyone involved to respond to the call for peace.
