Seven Killed In Adamawa Insurgent Attack

At least seven people have been confirmed dead following a fresh attack by insurgents on Garaha Lar village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The attack, which occurred on Monday night, has left the community shaken and several residents displaced.

The Chairman of Hong LGA, Hon. Usman Wa’aganda, confirmed the incident, adding that one resident is still missing while several homes and properties were burned down during the attack. He described the situation as tragic and called for urgent government support.

Wa’aganda said a member of the local vigilante group died after a bomb exploded while he was attempting to secure the area. He also revealed that a police patrol van was destroyed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), though fortunately, no officers were killed as they had exited the vehicle moments before the blast.

“The fear of IEDs planted by the insurgents is making it difficult for people to access the area,” Wa’aganda said. “Many residents have not returned home, and we are worried about those still unaccounted for.”

The council chairman made a passionate appeal for more military presence in the area and shelter for the displaced. “We need urgent help. The community is in panic, and we fear further attacks if nothing is done quickly,” he added.

Efforts to get a response from the Nigerian military were unsuccessful at the time of this report. Meanwhile, local authorities are working with emergency services to assess the full scale of damage and offer some relief to the affected victims.
