APC Vows Legal Fight to Reinstate Sacked Benue LG Chairmen

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has pledged to pursue all legal and constitutional avenues to reinstate the nine local government chairmen recently sacked by the Local Government Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

Addressing the media in Makurdi, APC caretaker chairman Dr. Benjamin Omale described the tribunal’s judgement as a “clear miscarriage of justice.” He said the affected LGAs—Vandeikya, Konshisha, Kwande, Ushongo, Otukpo, Agatu, Ado, Apa, and Ohimini—had validly elected APC candidates who adhered strictly to electoral laws and guidelines.

“We followed due process in nominating our candidates, and our victory was overwhelming across the state. Those declared winners by the tribunal were not even cleared by the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) to contest,” Omale stated.

He assured that the party’s legal team has begun the process of filing appeals and will present compelling arguments before the Benue State Local Government Elections Appeal Panel. “We remain optimistic that justice will prevail,” he said.

Omale also urged the affected chairmen to stay committed to their duties, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public service and aligning with the developmental agenda of Governor Hyacinth Alia. “Continue to prioritize the welfare of our people and the security of lives and property,” he told them.

He concluded by commending members of the tribunal in Zones A and B for what he called their courage and integrity. “Even with threats to their lives, they refused to be compromised,” Omale said.
