Court Remands Lady for Allegedly Tearing Boyfriend’s Scrotum in Ekiti

A Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 20-year-old woman, Joy Ikoja, for allegedly injuring her boyfriend, Ibrahim Usman, in a violent attack that left his scrotal sack torn.

The disturbing incident reportedly occurred on the evening of April 12, 2025, in the Irona area of Ado-Ekiti. Police brought charges against Ikoja on Wednesday, accusing her of inflicting grievous bodily harm and disturbing public peace.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeboye Adesegun, told the court that the offence violated multiple sections of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, including those relating to assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Adesegun urged the court to deny bail, arguing that the severity of the offence and likelihood of the defendant fleeing warranted her detention.

However, Ikoja’s counsel, David Ogbede, pushed back, asking the court to uphold her right to bail, citing the legal presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola ruled in favour of remand, ordering that the defendant be held at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Facility. The case was adjourned to April 22, 2025, for further hearing.
