AIG Ekokotu Urges NOA to Step Up Public Enlightenment Efforts

Assistant Inspector General of Police (Zone 11), Fred Ekokotu, has called on the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Osun State to intensify efforts in educating the public on government policies and promoting civic responsibility.

Hosting the NOA delegation led by Acting Director Mr. Adefarasin Adebiyi in his Osogbo office, the AIG emphasized the agency’s critical role as “the voice of the government.”

“You must take the lead in informing, educating, and enlightening our people about policies, programmes, and the dividends of democracy,” Ekokotu said.

He highlighted pressing societal issues such as the growing menace of cultism among youths, urging the NOA to initiate outreach programmes in primary and secondary schools to deter students from joining cult groups.

The AIG also charged the agency to conduct community sensitisation drives in markets, churches, mosques, and among students to foster a culture of lawfulness. He further called for increased awareness campaigns on road safety, tax compliance, and general citizen discipline.

“Let’s make sure our people understand the benefits of following the law and participating actively in governance,” he added, pledging police support for NOA’s activities when needed.

In his response, Adebiyi thanked the AIG for his collaborative spirit and outlined several ongoing civic programmes. He assured the police boss that the agency is fully committed to enhancing public understanding of government initiatives.

“We are determined to do more than ever before to ensure every citizen is properly informed,” he stated.
