A transformative chapter in Nigerian sports administration is unfolding as the University of Ibadan (UI) welcomes the Advanced Sports Management Course (ASMC), a landmark collaboration between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC).
Scheduled for May 6–8, 2025, the event will be delivered in a hybrid format, blending physical and virtual participation to broaden engagement. Attendees from across Nigeria will converge in Ibadan with one goal: to revolutionise the management of sports through innovative knowledge-sharing.
Now in its third module, the course will spotlight Managing Finance and Sports Marketing—two critical pillars for building sustainable and athlete-focused institutions.
Mr. Tunji Adeyinka, Group MD of Republicom Group, will open the session with marketing strategies tailored to boost the visibility of sports organisations. Following him, Mrs. Bodunrin Olanipekun, a seasoned administrator and IOC course alumna, will share her inspiring journey through sports leadership.
Key facilitators Prof. Clement Fasan, an IOC-certified course director, and Dr. Jonathan Dyagas from ANOCA, will guide participants through case studies and strategy-building sessions that emphasize fiscal responsibility and innovative thinking.
Workshops, group discussions, and remote contributions from global experts will add depth to the programme, helping bridge local realities with international standards.
The event will conclude with the presence of NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, reinforcing the NOC’s commitment to excellence in sports governance.
As Nigeria looks to the future, ASMC is set to play a defining role in shaping a generation of sports administrators ready to deliver results—both on and off the field.
