Nyesom Wike, has lashed out at both sides of the coalition debate within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing party leaders of hypocrisy and self-interest.
In a televised media chat on Friday, Wike declared, “None of the factions is being truthful. It is just a matter of interest.” He particularly called out the PDP Governors’ Forum, accusing them of undermining the party’s National Working Committee.
Referring to Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent TV remarks, Wike said he challenged him directly: “You know you did not say the truth.” He warned that the same impunity that caused PDP’s 2023 defeat could repeat itself, stressing, “You made the mistake yesterday, today you’re repeating it. Tomorrow you’ll say you were rigged out.”
Wike slammed the governors for usurping party roles and prioritising presidential ambition over party unity: “Everybody wants to be president. Nobody wants to build the party.”
He concluded with a grim prediction if the status quo persists: “It will affect the party again.”
