Alhaji Taye Adebisi, better known as Taye Currency, has revealed that he lost N10 million to CBEX, a cryptocurrency trading platform that recently crashed and vanished with investors’ funds.
He made the emotional disclosure during a performance at a social gathering, where he told the crowd that he had invested the money on April 1, just days before the scheme collapsed on April 14. “The money that I’ve been saving, I rushed to collect it. I took N10 million to CBEX on April 1st and it crashed,” he lamented.
CBEX, which has now been exposed as a Ponzi scheme, reportedly left thousands of Nigerians stranded and devastated, with some even hospitalised after losing their life savings. The platform’s sudden crash has sparked outrage online and offline.
Taye Currency didn’t hide his anger, calling out several people who introduced him to the scheme. In a viral video, he mentioned names like Sodiq, Small London, Araba, Lati, and Brother Muda. “Those of you that took me there will not do well,” he said, clearly upset.
However, his curses didn’t sit well with some people online. Many social media users criticized the singer, saying he wouldn’t have cursed anyone if he had made a profit instead. Some called it a case of greed, others saw it as a gamble gone wrong.
One user, Olorunoje Rosicky, commented, “Your own is far better. You’re rich na. How much is N10 million to you?” Another, Egeonu Henry Emeka, added, “It’s painful but no vex… even me invested my money and didn’t collect Kobo before it crashed.” Rasheedat Fakolujo chimed in, “Let CBEX rest in peace ooo.
