Pastor Umo Eno, has boldly thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid in 2027, going against the Presidency’s instruction that campaign talk should wait until closer to the election year.
Speaking at a public event, Governor Eno made it clear that he doesn’t play political games or speak from both sides of his mouth. He stood by his previous comments, saying, “I don’t know how to speak from two sides of the mouth… I said I was going to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Interestingly, Eno is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is preparing to battle the ruling APC in 2027. Despite party lines, he made it clear his support for Tinubu was personal and rooted in his belief in the president’s leadership. “When the time comes, I will tell you the reason… but let me keep it first,” he teased.
The governor didn’t shy away from calling out political double standards. He criticized those who secretly pledge support at night but do the opposite in public. “There’s no point lying to yourself,” he said, urging Akwa Ibom people to stand firm and not flip-flop politically.
He further hinted that Tinubu’s contributions to Akwa Ibom State would soon be clear for all to see, reinforcing his call for continued support. “Let him complete what he has started,” he said.
Governor Eno wrapped up by affirming his loyalty to his party, the PDP, but emphasized that his political views remain his own. “That does not stop me from being a member of my party. I am entitled to my own opinion.
