NSCDC Foils Potential Easter Tragedy, Arrests Armed Man at Plateau Church

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau State has arrested a man allegedly caught with a firearm inside the premises of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area, averting what could have been a tragic Easter Sunday.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was apprehended around 8:30 a.m. on Easter morning during a routine patrol by NSCDC officers near the church compound.

This incident comes shortly after recent deadly attacks in Bokkos by unknown gunmen that left multiple people dead, raising tensions and prompting heightened security.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was stopped and questioned by NSCDC operatives, but failed to provide any legal documentation or credible explanation for possessing the weapon.

The Plateau NSCDC spokesperson, ASP NR Rimvyok, confirmed the arrest in a phone chat with LEADERSHIP, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s motive.

Thanks to the vigilance of the security operatives, what could have been a dark day for worshippers was safely averted.
