Makinde Defends Neutrality in Alaafin Selection, Promises Palace Renovation

Engr. Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed that due process was strictly followed during the selection of the new Alaafin of Oyo, stating he has no regrets about ensuring fairness and neutrality throughout the process.

Speaking at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan during a courtesy visit from the new Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Owoade, and his wife, Ayaba Abiwunmi, Makinde emphasized that impartiality was key to maintaining public trust.

“I ensured neutrality during the process to prevent bias and uphold public confidence,” Makinde stated, while also pledging a befitting renovation of the Alaafin’s Palace.

In response, Oba Owoade praised the governor as a principled and objective leader committed to the truth and the progress of Oyo State.

“Governor Makinde is passionate about the emancipation of his people and never hesitates to embrace superior logic backed by evidence,” the monarch noted.

The Alaafin also assured the governor of his intent to strengthen trust among the people through transparent communication and leadership rooted in empathy.

He requested the installation of CCTV cameras between Oyo and Fiditi to boost security, revealing that similar installations already exist between Ibadan and Fiditi.

While praying for the governor’s continued strength and wisdom, the monarch called on residents to support Makinde’s administration in appreciation of his good governance.
