Gombe Gov Donates ₦10m To Families Of Easter Accident Victims

Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has donated ₦10 million to the families of victims who died during the tragic Easter procession accident in Billiri Local Government Area. The governor made the announcement on Wednesday during a condolence visit to the affected community.

The deadly incident occurred on Easter Monday when a truck plowed into a crowd of Christians participating in a procession, killing five people and injuring several others. The state has been in mourning since the event, which shocked residents across the Tangale Chiefdom.

Governor Inuwa visited the palace of the Mai Tangle, Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba, where he expressed his grief over the loss. “This is a deeply saddening event. We pray for the peaceful repose of the souls lost and swift healing for the injured,” he said.

To support the affected families, the governor announced ₦2 million each for the five bereaved families, amounting to ₦10 million in total. He also assured that all medical expenses for those injured would be fully covered by the state government.

Responding, the Emir of Billiri praised the governor’s swift intervention and compassion. He noted that the prompt response helped calm rising tensions that could have worsened the situation in the emotionally charged community.

Governor Inuwa also urged residents to remain united and peaceful, promising that the government would continue to prioritize safety and prevent such incidents in the future.
