The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is organizing the first-ever expo to showcase local content in Nigeria’s telecom industry. It will take place on August 1-2, 2022, at the Landmark Events Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event is hosted by the Nigerian Office for Development of Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS) and is themed “Stimulating the Development of Indigenous Content through Innovation and Commercialisation.” NODITS was created in 2021 to drive the goals of the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Content in the Telecommunications Sector.
According to a statement from the NCC, Engr. Babagana Digima, the NODITS team lead, said the expo aims to bring together key players in the telecom industry. It will provide a platform for sharing ideas and solutions to grow the demand for local solutions, technology, skills, and talent.
“We’ve invited local telecom operators, manufacturers, regulators, government agencies, industry leaders, and global experts to showcase their products and solutions that can help push Nigeria’s digital economy forward,” said Engr. Digima.
The expo has attracted interest from many companies, service providers, and government bodies, and the NCC is excited about the potential outcomes that could help boost Nigeria’s indigenous telecom industry.
