Globacom Appoints Ahmad Farroukh as CEO

Globacom has named Ahmad Farroukh as its new CEO. This change comes as part of the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) efforts to improve corporate governance in the telecom industry.

Farroukh will be leading a major transformation at Globacom, which is also reorganizing its board.

He started his career in 1995 as CEO of Investcom Group in Lebanon, a company later bought by MTN Group. Farroukh has extensive experience, having been the Managing Director of MTN Ghana and Regional Director for West Africa under Investcom, an MTN subsidiary. He also served as CEO of MTN Nigeria from 2006 to 2010 and later became CEO of MTN South Africa in 2014.

In 2015, Farroukh became the CEO of Mobily, the second-largest telecom company in Saudi Arabia, and worked there until 2017. He joined Smile Communications Nigeria Limited as Group CEO in 2019 before joining Globacom.

Farroukh holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the Lebanese American University and is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York, USA.
