SpaceX to Deliver Affordable Satellite Internet with Starlink Mini

SpaceX is taking a big step to provide internet access to people in remote areas where traditional broadband or mobile networks are not available. The company plans to launch the Starlink Mini**, a smaller and more affordable version of its satellite dish, designed to connect underserved communities.

### **What is Starlink Mini?**

The Starlink Mini is a compact, lightweight device measuring 11.4 x 9.8 inches, much smaller than the original Starlink dish. It’s portable enough to fit in a backpack, making it perfect for travelers, remote workers, and people living in isolated areas.

The device has a built-in Wi-Fi router that supports fast connections on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It can handle up to 128 devices at the same time and is easy to set up with just two connectors: one for power and another for a network cable. Weighing only 2.4 pounds, it’s designed for convenience and flexibility.

### **Starlink’s Growing Impact in Nigeria**

Since being introduced in Nigeria by tech distributor TD Africa, Starlink has gained popularity for its reliable satellite internet services. Data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) shows that Starlink has become the third-largest internet service provider in the country as of late 2023.

The Starlink Mini is expected to make an even bigger impact. Konga, one of Nigeria’s top e-commerce platforms and an exclusive retailer of Starlink products, will ensure the new device is available across the country at competitive prices.

**Performance and Affordability**

According to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, the Starlink Mini delivers impressive speeds, offering **100 Mbps for downloads** and **11.5 Mbps for uploads**, with a low latency of **23 ms**. These speeds are ideal for video streaming, video calls, and gaming, even in areas with poor connectivity.

The device also supports mesh networking, allowing users to extend coverage by connecting multiple Starlink routers. For those who prefer wired connections, it includes an Ethernet port.

What’s even better is the price. The Starlink Mini is expected to cost half the price of the original dish, making high-speed internet more affordable for more Nigerians.

### **Bridging the Digital Gap**

With the Starlink Mini, SpaceX is making it easier for people in rural and remote areas to access fast, reliable internet. This innovation will benefit families, businesses, and communities, helping them connect to the digital world like never before.
