The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has agreed to let MTN partially cut off Globacom (Glo) from its network because Glo hasn’t paid some fees.

This decision was shared by Reuben Muoka, the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, in a notice on Monday. It follows Glo’s failure to pay its debts despite several attempts to fix the issue.

With this partial disconnection, Globacom customers will only be able to receive calls from MTN users, but they won’t be able to make calls to them. They can still use outgoing calls to other networks and access data services.

The notice said that everyone should be aware that the NCC has approved this partial disconnection based on the Nigerian Communications Act and guidelines for disconnecting telecom operators.

After 10 days from January 8, 2024, Globacom customers won’t be able to call MTN, but they can still receive calls from MTN.
