First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, has described the high rates of human trafficking in the country as “disheartening” and pledged her support to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in its efforts to combat the crime.
The First Lady made the commitment during a meeting with NAPTIP’s Director General, Hajia Binta Lami Adamu Bello, and top management officials at the State House in Abuja. She was briefed on the agency’s recent operations, including the rescue of 19 pregnant young girls from a baby factory in Abuja.
Senator Tinubu urged Nigerian youths to avoid falling victim to traffickers by shunning the “get-rich-quick” mentality and embracing patience and hard work. She also called on religious institutions to promote values that discourage criminal behavior.
