ECOWAS, India Strengthen Ties on Trade, Investment, and Regional Security

 

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and India have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in economic development, investment, and security across West Africa.

This was emphasized during a meeting between the Indian High Commission’s Chief of Mission, Vartika Rawat, and ECOWAS Commission President, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, in Abuja.

Discussions focused on boosting trade, capacity building, and investment as strategies to tackle regional insecurity. Rawat praised the strong partnership between India and ECOWAS, revealing plans to formalize their cooperation through a memorandum of understanding.

Touray welcomed the collaboration, urging international partners to support ECOWAS in fostering unity, peace, and sustainable development in the region.
