Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), was abducted by armed men from his residence in Works Layout, Owerri, the capital of Imo State. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 8th, when seven gunmen dressed in black stormed his home and took him away in what has been described as a “Gestapo-style” operation.
The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to locate Igboayaka. Police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye clarified that the youth leader has not been officially arrested and urged anyone with information to come forward.
Igboayaka, known for his outspoken criticism of governance and security issues in the Southeast, has been a vocal figure in the region. The National President of the Igbo National Council (INC), Chilos Godsent, raised the alarm over the abduction, calling for urgent action to secure his release.
The kidnapping has sparked concerns about the safety of activists and critics in the region, with many calling for a thorough investigation to ensure Igboayaka’s safe return.
