A high-powered delegation from the Yobe State Government, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, has visited the OCP/Jorf Lasfar fertilizer complex in Morocco, the world’s largest fertilizer company. The visit is part of efforts to revive the state’s fertilizer blending plant and boost agricultural productivity.
The delegation, which included the Commissioners of Agriculture, Higher Education, and Local Government, as well as the Chairman of Damaturu Local Government Council, explored potential partnerships in agriculture, education, and other sectors.
During the tour, the Facility Information Officer of the complex, Amine Jamaleddine, highlighted the company’s massive production capacity, stating that it produces 15 million tons of fertilizer annually and operates year-round.
The visit marks a significant step in Yobe State’s plan to strengthen its agricultural sector and ensure food security through improved access to quality fertilizers. The partnership could also create opportunities for knowledge exchange and capacity building in the state.
