A suspected phone thief was lynched and set ablaze by residents of Obio Offot in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday after allegedly stealing from worshippers at a local church.
Meanwhile, another suspect was caught around 11 a.m. after snatching a phone and fleeing into a ravine near Eka and Asutan Streets. He was dragged to a secluded compound on Ebong Street, where an angry mob attempted to lynch him.
However, a quick intervention by an armed policeman saved his life, and he was taken to the ‘A’ Division Police Station in Uyo.
