CBN Governor Seeks Stronger Economic Ties with Middle East, Nigerian Diaspora

Olayemi Cardoso, has called for deeper economic collaboration between Nigeria and the Middle East, emphasizing the role of the Nigerian diaspora in the region.

Speaking in Riyadh during a meeting with Talal Al-Humond, Assistant Governor for Monetary Affairs at the Saudi Arabia Central Bank, Cardoso highlighted the importance of learning from Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification, particularly in infrastructure and tourism.

A CBN statement on Monday quoted Cardoso as praising Saudi Arabia’s commitment to large-scale transformation projects and sustainable development.

He also reaffirmed the CBN’s commitment to working closely with the Nigerian diaspora in the Middle East to enhance remittance flows and strengthen Nigeria’s financial sector.

Cardoso reiterated the CBN’s focus on improving macroeconomic stability to foster private-sector growth and create high-quality jobs for Nigerians.
