By student has been confirmed dead, and four others injured after a classroom corridor collapsed at Government Girls Science and Technical College, Potiskum, Yobe State.
The incident happened around noon on Thursday as students were preparing to go for their lunch break, according to Pulsewirieng.
Permanent Secretary of the Yobe State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Bukar Aji, confirmed the collapse while addressing journalists.
He stated that the injured students, all in Senior Secondary School II, are currently receiving treatment at Specialist Hospital in Potiskum.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the collapse, but concerns are growing over the structural integrity of school buildings in the state.
Parents and community members have called for urgent action to prevent further tragedies in schools across the region.
