By Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, has officially entered the Anambra State governorship race after a political group, Anambra Coalition for Progressives Change, purchased the N50 million All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination forms for him.
Receiving the forms, Okonkwo expressed confidence that if APC gives him the ticket, the party will secure a landslide victory in the November 8, 2025, election.
He claimed that Anambra residents were dissatisfied with Governor Charles Soludo’s administration and were eager for a leader with “impeccable credentials” to take over.
Okonkwo further alleged that Soludo was spending heavily in Abuja to block his APC candidacy, fearing he would be the strongest challenger in the race.
The businessman and political economist vowed to bring transformative leadership to Anambra if elected, promising to focus on economic development and governance reforms.
As the APC primary draws closer, political analysts predict a fierce contest, with Okonkwo emerging as a major contender in the battle for Anambra’s top seat.
