Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle, has directed security agencies to take proactive steps to restore law and order in Osun State following recent violent incidents.
Expressing concern over the unrest, which led to the loss of lives, Matawalle urged security forces to prevent further escalation and ensure peace in affected local government areas.
In a statement signed by the Ministry of Defence’s Director of Information, Sunday Iyogun, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding justice and maintaining stability.
He noted that the recent Appeal Court ruling on the tenure of local government chairmen in Osun reflected judicial independence and aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s stance on equity and the rule of law.
Matawalle stressed that violence must not be allowed to continue, calling on stakeholders to respect legal decisions and prioritize peace.
Security agencies have since intensified surveillance and deployed reinforcements to troubled areas to prevent further violence.
