Indian Embassy Pledges Support for FCT Badminton

The Indian Embassy in Nigeria has pledged to support the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Badminton Association in its efforts to grow the sport across the region.

Mr. Pramod Kumar Agrawal, Head of Chancery, made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the FCT Badminton Association board, led by its chairman, Comptroller Usman Bappa (Rtd).

Bappa emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Indian Embassy and Asian communities in Nigeria to strengthen badminton development.

“We recognize India’s strong involvement in badminton, and we look forward to working together to promote the sport,” Bappa stated.

He also announced plans to organize competitions for underprivileged children and equip over 45 clubs in the FCT to ensure regular training for players and officials.

The board is finalizing the Asian Badminton Cup, an event designed to honor FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, with the Indian community playing a key role. It also appealed for equipment donations due to rising costs affecting players.
