An Oyo State Mobile Court has remanded a driver, Oke Ademola, in a Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting two officers of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) in Ibadan.
The incident happened at Agodi Gate Bus Stop, where Ademola reportedly attacked officers Kareem Yakubu and Ogunjimi Ayotunde after being stopped for a traffic violation.
Ademola, who was driving an unlicensed Toyota Camry, was arraigned before the court on six charges, including disobeying traffic lights, refusal to park at designated areas, resisting arrest, assaulting officers, driving without a license, and operating an unlicensed vehicle.
During the hearing, the prosecution presented evidence detailing how Ademola’s actions obstructed law enforcement officers in their duties.
The court ruled that he be remanded in custody, pending further proceedings, as authorities continue their crackdown on traffic violations and assaults against officials.
The case has been adjourned, with legal experts noting that such offenses could lead to serious penalties, including fines or extended detention.
