The Federal Government has postponed the National Council for Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy meeting, initially scheduled for February 25-27, 2025, in Osun State.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, cited heightened political tensions over the ongoing local government leadership crisis as the reason for the postponement.
In an internal memo addressed to state commissioners and key stakeholders, Idris emphasized the need to avoid holding the meeting in an unstable environment.
“With reference to the above, I wish to bring to your notice the current tense situation in Osun State stemmed from political unrest and uproar in view of the ongoing local government elections,” the memo read.
The crisis has sparked concerns over security and governance, prompting the federal government to take precautionary measures.
A new date and venue for the council meeting are expected to be announced once the situation stabilizes.
