Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and television pundit Idah Peterside has advised Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman to leave Italian club Atalanta as soon as possible, warning that the club may eventually push him out.
Peterside’s comments came after Lookman delivered a stunning performance in Atalanta’s 5-0 win over Empoli on Sunday. The Nigerian international scored twice and provided an assist, earning the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
His display came just days after a public fallout with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini. Last week, Gasperini criticized Lookman for missing a penalty in their Champions League elimination against Club Brugge, calling him “the worst” penalty taker.
Despite the harsh criticism, Lookman responded in the best way possible—by leading Atalanta to victory with an outstanding performance. His brace silenced doubts about his ability under pressure.
Peterside believes Lookman should take control of his future and find a club where he is truly valued. “He should leave immediately or as soon as possible before they force him out,” he said.
Lookman has been a key player for Atalanta this season, and his next career move will be closely watched as speculation over his future grows.
