The Engineering Materials and Equipment Development Institute (EMEDI) in Katsina State is now 80% complete, according to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, NASENI’s Director of Information, revealed this on Sunday, stating that a Monitoring and Evaluation team led by Yetunde Ajayi, Acting Director of Administration and Human Resources, recently assessed the site’s progress.
EMEDI Katsina was established to conduct research and development in engineering materials and infrastructure, focusing on producing science equipment and machines.
Once completed, the institute will enhance the development of silica resources in the state using advanced technologies and modern techniques.
During their inspection on February 17, 2025, the team toured the 20-hectare construction site, guided by EMEDI Katsina’s Project Manager, Dr. M.S. Abdullahi.
The project is expected to boost technological advancements and industrial growth in Katsina, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to science and engineering innovation.
