By Veteran journalist Tony Ubani, SuperSports presenter Chisom Mbonu-Ezeoke, and CAF Women’s Football Media Officer Oluchi Tobex Tobechukwu have been appointed as anchor persons for the maiden Newstap/SWAN Five Star Sports Award.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Newstap Communications Editor Ifeanyi Eduzor and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Secretary General Ikenna Okonkwo, who highlighted their expertise in hosting high-profile events.
The award ceremony aims to honor five distinguished Nigerians and corporate bodies for their contributions to sports development in Nigeria. This year’s honorees include:
Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia – Governor of Benue State
GTI Assets Management and Trust Limited – For its impact on the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL)
Kunle Soname – President of Remo Stars FC
Barrister Paul Edeh – Chairman of Benue State FA, founder of Naija Ratels and Benue Queens
Chief Ebi Egbe – CEO of Monimichelle Sports Facilities Ltd
The prestigious event will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Bamboo Hall, Eko Club, Surulere, Lagos.
