Group Urges Governors to Upgrade Hajj Camps

The Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR) has called on state governors and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister to renovate and upgrade Hajj transit camps ahead of the 2025 pilgrimage.

In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, IHR’s national coordinator, Ibrahim Mohammed, stressed the urgent need for improvements, citing the poor state of some facilities.

“It is common knowledge that intending pilgrims spend several days at various Hajj camps before their airlift to Saudi Arabia. Information at our disposal indicates that some of these camps need urgent renovation to make them more comfortable,” he said.

The group emphasized that better facilities would enhance the experience of pilgrims, ensuring they have a smooth and dignified stay before departure.

IHR also praised the governors of Bauchi, Adamawa, Kaduna, and Sokoto States, as well as the FCT Minister, for taking steps to modernize their Hajj transit facilities.

With preparations for the 2025 Hajj underway, the group urged other states to follow suit and prioritize the welfare of their pilgrims.
