Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (JOSTUM) has shut down indefinitely following the abduction of three students by armed assailants on campus.
The university’s management ordered all students to vacate their hostels immediately, citing security concerns after the attack near Zamfara Hostel and Ring Road on Tuesday night.
To ensure students’ safety, the school declared a one-week mid-semester break while security agencies work to resolve the situation.
In an internal memo signed by the Registrar, Dr. John U. David, students were instructed to leave the hostels by 4:00 pm on Wednesday.
Authorities have yet to disclose any breakthroughs in the search for the kidnapped students, but security operations are reportedly underway.
The incident has heightened fears among students and parents, with calls for improved security on university campuses across the country.
