Edo Queens Declare Player AWOL

Edo Queens, champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), have officially declared their player, Comfort Folorunsho, Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL). The announcement came through a statement released by the club on Thursday.

According to the club’s management, Folorunsho packed her belongings and left the team without informing anyone, despite having a valid contract with Edo Queens. The club described her action as unprofessional and warned that any club attempting to sign her without proper clearance would be acting against the rules.

Edo Queens stressed that Folorunsho’s contract is still active, meaning she cannot leave or join another team without following due process. “The said player still has a running contract with Edo Queens FC, hence she has no right to leave without officially informing the club of her whereabouts,” the club stated.

The management made it clear they are not blocking her from moving to another club but insisted that any transfer must be handled properly and professionally.

As a further warning, Edo Queens called on all clubs in Nigeria and beyond to steer clear of any illegal approach for Folorunsho. They urged everyone to respect existing contracts and follow the established transfer procedures.

The situation has sparked conversations about player welfare, contract disputes, and the importance of clear communication between players and management in Nigerian women’s football.
