Nigeria, Dubai DP World Plan Port Revamp

Nigeria’s federal government has announced plans to collaborate with Dubai’s DP World to develop and modernize the country’s port infrastructure, as part of ongoing efforts to boost efficiency in the maritime sector.

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, confirmed the partnership when he hosted a delegation from DP World over the weekend. He assured the global port operator of Nigeria’s readiness to welcome fresh investments into the sector.

Oyetola emphasized that Nigeria’s extensive coastline and abundant land make the country an ideal location for large-scale industrial parks that can support port operations and drive export processing.

DP World’s proposal includes developing an industrial park near key ports to serve as a logistics hub, supporting both domestic production and export activities. The plan is expected to create jobs and streamline Nigeria’s import and export processes.

The minister further pledged that his ministry would ensure all necessary support is provided to interested investors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to expanding the nation’s blue economy.

With this partnership, Nigeria aims to transform its ports into modern, globally competitive trade hubs, reducing congestion and improving the ease of doing business across its maritime sector.
