SOKAPU Pushes Again For Gurara

The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has renewed its push for the creation of Gurara State, taking advantage of the House of Representatives’ decision to reopen submissions for new states across the country.

With the fresh opportunity provided by the House Committee on Constitution Review, SOKAPU says it is actively refining its proposal to ensure it meets all constitutional requirements for state creation.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, SOKAPU President, Engr. Samuel Tabara, confirmed that a high-powered committee has already been set up to lead this effort. The committee is being chaired by Barrister Mark Jacob.

According to Tabara, the committee is tasked with lobbying key stakeholders at both the state and national levels, ensuring Gurara State’s proposal gains strong backing across political and ethnic divides.

He further revealed that several lawmakers, traditional rulers, and influential leaders have already endorsed the push for Gurara State, a sign that the campaign is gaining momentum.

For SOKAPU, the creation of Gurara State is not just a political ambition — it is a long-held dream tied to the desire for greater development, self-determination, and representation for the people of Southern Kaduna.
