Nigerian Footballer Abubakar Laid To Rest

Abubakar Lawal, who played for Vipers Sports Club in Uganda, have been buried in Sokoto following his sudden and mysterious death.

Abubakar’s body was flown back to Nigeria courtesy of his club, Vipers SC, which covered the expenses to ensure he was laid to rest in his homeland.

Family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered at the Sultan Abubakar III Mosque for his funeral prayers, after which he was buried at the mosque’s burial ground.

The funeral was attended by Engineer Mustapha Abdullahi, Sokoto State’s Commissioner for Youths and Sports, who led a state government delegation to pay last respects.

Also present were representatives from the Nigerian Embassy in Uganda and officials from Vipers Sports Club, who traveled to Sokoto to honor the late player.

While the cause of Abubakar’s death remains unclear, his passing has left both the football community and his home state in mourning, as tributes continue to pour in.
