More than 300 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party, and Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Imo State have defected to The Movement (TMO), a non-governmental organization founded by Dr. Chima Mathew Amadi.
The defectors, mainly ward-level executives, cited their frustration with APC’s leadership style and failure to fulfill campaign promises. They praised TMO’s focus on grassroots development, youth empowerment, and humanitarian programs, saying it offers real hope for positive change in Imo State.
This mass defection brings the total number of former APC members who joined TMO in recent months to over 500, signaling growing discontent within the ruling party.
TMO’s commitment to education, healthcare, and community development has resonated strongly with Imo residents, especially women and youth.
The defectors were formally welcomed into TMO by Hon. Henry Okechukwu Onwukwe and other leaders. Key figures among them include:
Okenze Engr. Paul Opara, immediate past APC Zonal Chairman, Owerri Zone
Hon. Udo Agoha, former Commissioner for Agriculture and Imo State Coordinator of Big Tent
Hon. Titus Anyanwu
Okenze Henry Unegbu
Hon. Chinenye Ezurike, immediate past Chairmanship aspirant for Ezinihitte LGA
Princess Julieth Anyanwu
Engr. Fred Kamalu
Dr. Uzor Mmezi
Engr. Paul Ejiogu, ADP State Chairman
With this influx of experienced politicians, TMO is rapidly positioning itself as a powerful grassroots-driven force for change in Imo politics.
