Wike Accuses Bala Mohammed of Betrayal

Nyesom Wike, has accused Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, of betrayal and claimed that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors worked against the party before and after the 2023 general elections.

Speaking during a live media chat on March 12, 2025, Wike recalled how he defended the PDP during his tenure as Rivers State governor, resisting attempts to weaken the party. He alleged that the ruling party had once used Ali Modu Sheriff to destabilize the PDP but insisted, “I stood my ground, saying the PDP must survive. I did not go to the Villa—never.”

When asked about former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s claim that the ruling party was behind divisions in opposition parties, Wike refused to comment. “I don’t want to go into that; it’s El-Rufai’s view. Do I look like someone that does things out of the public?” he said.

Expressing doubts about the PDP’s preparedness for the next general election, Wike placed blame on some of the party’s governors, alleging they were working against the party’s interests.

“See why it would not hold; every governor is working against the party. Let them challenge me, and I will tell them one by one.”

Wike’s remarks have reignited debates within the PDP over internal conflicts and loyalty issues, further complicating the party’s efforts to rebuild ahead of future elections.
