The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Morocco’s Jayed Jalal as the center referee for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Rwanda and Nigeria.
The match is set to take place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday, March 21. Jalal will be assisted by fellow Moroccans Mostapha Akarkad and Hamza Nassiri, who will serve as the first and second assistant referees.
Jalal, 37, is an experienced referee known for officiating high-profile CAF club and international matches. He previously officiated Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly win over Ghana on March 22, 2024.
The Super Eagles are in a tough spot, sitting fifth in Group C with just three points from four matches. Meanwhile, Rwanda leads the group with seven points from the same number of games.
With Nigeria desperate for a win to revive their qualification hopes, all eyes will be on Jalal and his officiating in this crucial encounter.
