Dr. Betta Edu welcomed the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, to an Iftar gathering at her residence in Calabar. The event, held during the sacred month of Ramadan, brought together key figures from the academic and political spheres.

The Emir, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University of Calabar, arrived with a distinguished entourage. His presence underscored the strong ties between northern and southern leaders, fostering mutual respect and cultural appreciation.

Among the attendees was the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, who was standing in for the governor. Also present was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, alongside members of the university’s governing council, management team, and student representatives.

The event attracted prominent figures from the Muslim community in Cross River State, further strengthening religious harmony. Faithful from different backgrounds gathered to share in the spirit of Ramadan and reflect on the importance of unity.

Dr. Edu praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting his dedication to national unity and interfaith cooperation. She emphasized the importance of cultural appreciation in fostering a peaceful and inclusive society.

In addition to celebrating Ramadan, Dr. Edu took the opportunity to mark the Golden Jubilee of her alma mater, the University of Calabar. She extended warm wishes to the Muslim faithful, reaffirming her commitment to promoting peace and unity across Nigeria.
