Kogi Central Constituents Dismiss Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Injunction as ‘Desperation’

Constituents of Kogi Central have criticized Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent court injunction, which restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from processing a petition for her recall. They argue that the move signals her acknowledgment that she is “as good as gone.”

In a statement issued by the Kogi Central Renaissance Assembly (KCRA) on Friday, the constituents claimed that the embattled senator’s legal action reflects desperation. They questioned why she would seek to block INEC from acting on the recall petition if she genuinely believed the submitted signatures were fake.

“It is laughable that the same person calling the recall process a sham is now asking the court to stop INEC from verifying the signatures. If they are fictitious, let INEC prove it,” the statement, signed by KCRA Coordinator Adeku Joshua and Secretary Maleek Sule, read.

The group insisted that they would see the recall process through, emphasizing that the people of Kogi Central and the Ebira ethnic group stand for integrity.

A Federal High Court in Lokoja granted the interim injunction earlier on Friday, preventing INEC from receiving or acting on the petition. However, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s critics remain determined to proceed with the recall, vowing to “redeem their image” and prevent further embarrassment to their district and the country.
