Videos circulating on social media showed people scrambling for items such as small bags of rice, pasta, sugar, salt, and bottles of cooking oil.
Reports indicate that the truck was transporting the items in advance of Seyi Tinubu’s planned visit, which was later canceled for undisclosed reasons.
Seyi Tinubu has been touring Northern states throughout Ramadan, providing food for Iftar. However, his visit to Gombe did not go as planned.
The looting highlights the growing desperation among residents as economic hardship continues to bite, raising concerns about food security and public order.
