Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has raised concerns over rising cases of armed robbery and attacks by herdsmen in the town. He called on the newly appointed Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, to take decisive action.
During a visit to the Soun’s palace, the monarch described the security situation as worrisome. He particularly pointed out that over 30 homes in Pakiotan had been attacked recently. He also highlighted the growing issue of criminal gangs operating at night.
Oba Olaoye commended CP Adenola for prioritizing Ogbomoso in his security plans. He urged the police to strengthen law enforcement and implement better strategies to protect residents.
“These challenges pose serious threats to the peace and prosperity of our people. Our farmers are suffering, and residents live in fear of armed robbery and street crimes. We need a more robust security strategy to address these issues,” he stated.
In response, CP Adenola assured the monarch that security measures would be enhanced. He announced plans for quarterly security meetings and pledged full support for the Area Commander.
The Soun also called on residents to play an active role in crime prevention. He emphasized that security is a shared responsibility and urged the community to work with law enforcement to combat crime effectively.
